During National Military Family Month, on November 16, 2023, I Care San Antonio will proudly celebrate their veterans' initiative; All Star Eye Care for Veterans and Their Families - dedicated to helping low-income and homeless veterans and their immediate family members access complete eye care including medical, surgical and optical ...because when one member joins the military the whole family serves. With support and an engaging message from keynote speaker, Air Force Veteran, Super Bowl champ, and author, Chad Hennings, I Care San Antonio will share its initiative to provide vision care to veteran families, addressing the critical need to further reduce coverage gaps for veterans and their families; ensuring healthcare equity to our most vulnerable veteran families while easing the financial burden and stress they endure when faced with military separation, civilian transition, and caregiver demands. Chad Hennings won three Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys during the 1990s, and his first appearance was within a year’s time of flying his A-10 Thunderbolt II in a combat sortie in northern Iraq. Hennings, a 1988 Air Force Academy graduate, led the nation with 24 sacks and was awarded the Outland Trophy during the 1987 season -- an award that recognizes the nation’s best interior lineman. Following graduation, Hennings -- now a member of the College Football Hall of Fame -- was drafted by the Cowboys in the 11th round of the 1988 draft. Before he could even suit up in the NFL, Hennings had to first fulfill his military commitment. From a character perspective, he knew without a doubt what he needed to do because he made a commitment and he was going to stick to it. Being a solid performer on the gridiron and in his jet, Hennings has always tried to strive for excellence. Looking back, the leadership skills gained, the experience of flying jets, and the camaraderie within his fighter squadron are things that gave him skills he used on the gridiron and in his everyday life. Hennings is a philanthropic leader in the Dallas/Ft Worth area serving several non profits that work with at risk families and veterans. Chad is the founder of Wingmen Ministries, an organization that encourages discipleship and mentorship of men. He challenges audiences to realize it's not what we do that determines who we are, but that it's who we are that determines what we do. A V.I.P reception will be held the night before the O'Dark Thirty Breakfast - Wednesday, November 15th, 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. (Full details TBA). This intimate and limited event will provide Platinum and Gold Sponsors the opportunity to enjoy an evening with special guest, Chad Hennings in a relaxed environment with unscripted banter that is sure to be entertaining and most memorable. The O’Dark Thirty Breakfast benefits the All Star Eye Care Program. Your support is helping to make a difference in the lives of our most vulnerable veteran families. I Care San Antonio, located at Haven for Hope, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and the leading charity vision center in San Antonio and the surrounding counties.
